Safety in our School Programmes
Waimarino Education Trust employs industry trained and qualified instructors to safely lead & facilitate all of our exciting programmes. They have a wide range of experience including kayaking, climbing, and adventure based activity instruction, and with this knowledge can engage, educate and challenge your group to the edge of their comfort zone.
General safety
- At Waimarino we provide all equipment that is used to participate in our activities e.g. Buoyancy Aids, Paddles, Kayaks, Paddleboards etc.
- All instructors are carrying rescue equipment and are first aid certified. We also have First Aid Kits on site at Waimarino Adventure Park and in our Vehicles.
- Our Programmes are led by safety conscious, and knowledgeable Instructors. Our staff are passionate about educating children about water safety whilst encouraging students to get out of their comfort zone and try something new.
- Our drivers are Full License holders with all trained bus drivers holding their passenger endorsement. Additional training is done on site to ensure that all drivers are competent.
Testimonials
Tokoroa Intermediate School has visited Waimarino a couple of times with a large group of students. We found that the staff were caring and related well to the students. The programmes that the students participated in were engaging and challenging and the students enjoyed them. There was a wide variety of activities for the children which catered for the more adventurous and those that were more cautions. All students were encouraged to have a go.
Their health and safety information (RAMS) are comprehensive. Children are clearly instructed in the use of lifejackets and their swimming ability is tested before they can participate in the water activities.

For the past 5 years we have used the Waimarino team for our annual Kayak Camp. Their team is always professional and well prepared. They work one on one with our students to improve their paddling and rolling techniques and their expertise is invaluable to our Outdoor Education programme. I have always found their instructors to be adequately experienced to deal with secondary school students and they know how to get the best out of each individual. I highly recommend using Waimarino for any kayaking activities and I look forward to booking our next College trip with them.
